Ok so I thought I'd try playing a UO freeshard (I haven't played in a very long time) and this shard showed up in a google search and appeared interesting. For arguments sake (and because it is mostly true) assume I know very little about computers. I downloaded the 9th anniversary client from Origin's website and installed it. From there I started it, but prevented the patch. Then I downloaded UO51a files from this website and copied and pasted them into my uo folder replacing the files by the same name (I presume that is correct). Then I tried to run the client and recieved an error message saying UO51a was not installed correctly or something of that nature and that I needed to reinstall UO through setup.exe. Rather than playing around with this hopelessly I was curious if someone could walk me through what I did wrong and what I need to do to fix it in detail.

this is simple to fix we have provided the entire game and the shard files into one install package
remove your UO folder or delete it
dl the link above the one labeled shard files which is UO Renaissance that has the shard files inside it
after you install that which is the game and shard files try to login if you cannot
search for file
login.cfg
open that with notepad and see if it has
loginserver=70.118.116.155,2593
if it does not put this in
try again and you should be good to go

anyone else that finds this place do not go to any other site for the game files or the game just use our complete install
if you have the game and are familiar with moving files around for UO freeshard then use the link shard files only
otherwise save yourself a hassel and just install the entire thing using link above shard files link.
